EurObserv’ER releases new Wind Power Barometer

Wind power’s
expansion was outstanding in 2009. First available estimates put global wind
power capacity at almost 158 GW, which means that around 37 GW of additional capacity
was installed in 2009 according to the previously released EurObserv’ER wind
barometer.

was installed in 2009 according to the previously released EurObserv’ER wind
barometer.
The European
Union market was particularly resilient coping with the financial crisis.
According to EurObserv’ER, it grew by 13.3% in 2009 with 9.739 MW (8.595 MW in
2008), which is a new record for annual installations. Subtracting the
installations taken out of service, the European Union’s base rose to 74.800 MW by the end of 2009. Spain
and Germany
confirmed their leadership of the wind power market in 2009.
